Best things about Christmas (in no particular order)
0. Having Kelly here with us. There's nothing like Christmas with children and it's so wonderful to have our own.
1. Getting the family altogether on Christmas Day at our house. Everyone brought food and it turned out really nice. Neat if this turns out to be a new tradition.
2. Christmas Eve at Grammy's house. This is a tradition that we can't forget. The Craft exchange was fun -- everyone was so creative.
3. Christmas morning at my mom's house. The egg strata was delish and getting to be with Jim and Lindsay before they went to Manhattan Beach was great. They really loved being with Kelly too.
4. Seeing Jordy and Ian so excited to open presents. Seeing thme together and playing. Always a joy to watch them together.
Merry Christmas!

My dad was here this weekend. I finally figured out how to publish photos from my iphone. They are above. Kelly fell asleep in his arms right when we were eating breakfast. It was so cute.
Books and Movies
Just watched, After the Wedding. It's Danish and it's really good. Highly recommend adding this to your Netflix Queue. It's dramatic and takes you on a ride you aren't prepared for. Both me and John really liked it!! Any other movies you recommend to add to our queue?
I'm almost done with Eat, Pray, Love. It's really good. I think it was recommended by Oprah. It takes me forever to read a bood but this is a good one. It only took me 4 months with a new baby. Pretty good for me. Who else has read this? Thanks Melani for sending me this book!
Oh and here's a photo of my mom and Kelly!

I still need to learn how to upload pix from my iPhone. So many cute ones lately.
My dad was here on Sunday and we had a really nice time with him. He loves Kelly. Seems like all the grandparents do. Naturally. :)
We also decorated Jim and Lindsay's Christmas tree in Pasadena last Saturday. It was fun. This was an annual tradition that we would do with Grandma Dorothy but of course she wasnt there. It was kind of sad. She used to love it so. Hopefully laughter of Kelly will fill that void in the future. We miss Grandma. Especially at Christmas.
Christmas is just around the corner. We will be having all the grandparents, Albie, Bob, Andrea and John and Sandy at our house as well as Laura here. Should be a good time. I feel like there is so much to do. I want our house to look beautiful.
We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.

Also, if you didn't know we are getting our front porch redone. Gone are the ugly 1960s pillars. They were terrible. We are so lucky to get rid of those!!!!!!! Carey is so happy. It tooks the guys just 25 minutes to demo them. We had to agonize over 2 years about it and it was so easy for them. The porch will be all red brick with two wicker like ( I want the fake rubber wicker so they're easy to clean) chairs. A comfy cozy place to read and watch the trees. Can't wait. It should be done in a few days!
Greetings from Santa Barbara! Kelly is sleeping on our bed. Shhh!!! I took a short nap with her there at 6:30 and she kept sleeping there. It's sooooooooooooo cute. She has her favorite blankie with her and the lights on. It's 9:30 now. We will have to move her when we want to go to bed. But we dont dare touch her b/c she looks so peaceful. I've never seen her ever sleep without being swaddled. Maybe this will be a new thing for her!

Our Xmas tree is up now. So pretty! It's fresh smelling. John got it and picked out the lights and put them on too. I did the ornaments. Can't wait for others to see it!

Can't seem to keep up with the blog now that Kelly is more active. But I'll try. So many people have been asking me about it... I didnt really know that people actually read my musings! My computer is kind of slow. I need to learn how to post from my iPhone since I have it with me all the time. Uploading photos to blogger is slow. Need to figure out a better way.
Where to start -- Kelly is a joy. She was a hit at the 4th annual cookie party that we had on Sunday. All the usual suspects were there. You know who you are. :)
Kelly was a doll baby on Saturday night for my mom the baby sitter. She went down at 7pm and didnt cause my mom any troubles. We went to Donna's 40th surprise birthday party and were all dressed up in 1940's style. (Found the hat in Gramy's things. It was in perfect condition of course!!! All the costume jewelry that Ive been saving all these years finally came in handy!) There was dinner and dancing and lots of friends of ours there. The dancing was the best part for me. Donna was so surprised it was awesome.
Some other stuff -- some days it's amazing what a multi-tasking mom can get done in one day and what I know how to "re-frame". (I think work trained me for this. Especially working with all those men in the software industry!) Other days feel like I got worked over by a steam roller. If Kelly sleeps well, then we're pretty much golden and mommy and Kelly go out and exercise everyday and meet up with other mommies and babies. But if sleep has been bad, then you can pretty much kiss your brain goodbye for the day. Luckily she is asleep right now. She goes to bed at 7pm. Thank you God!!! John is out getting real live Xmas tree for us. Yippee!
Tomorrow is a big day. Drs appt for K. Pep for both of us. Lunch for Donna's official bday then off to help my mom with something. Xmas cards got ordered today. Probably need to decorate the tree tomorrow. I should be resting and reading my book "Eat, Pray, Love" which Melani got for me and I am really enjoying reading. It was on Oprah today and I missed it - bummed about that.
Also am getting my money's worth from Netflix. Saw "Holiday" with Cameron Diaz and would really recommend it as feel good, fun Xmas movie. Cheers all!!

PEP Comes to Our House
I really want to get in the habit of posting everyday so here goes.
Today we hosted the PEP group at our house. Basically all the new mommies and babies meet and get together. Here's a photo of all the babies. They are all basically the same age, born within days or weeks of each other.

Last weekend was big. Grandma Dorothy's memorial was Saturday. It turned out really nice. I'm glad about that. I won't say too much else about that here.

Some great pictures have happened lately. Here's her just chilling in the bassinet where she sleeps!
I haven't posted for awhile. I feel a little weird about it being happy about Kelly in between funerals. But I life has to go on...
Anyway, we had a terrific weekend with Kelly. Went to the Lane Farms pumpkin patch, carved a pumpkin with Ben and Maryann's family. Sunday we saw the Pep parade and dressed Kelly as pumpkin. Then went to another Pumpkin Carving party. We had fun!
Tomorrow night we'll dress little miss muffet up as a pumpkin again. Stay tuned for pix!

This weekend was tough but we got to be with a lot of family and that was wonderful. I won't go into the details here since it's pretty private but suffice it to say that Grammy's Graveside Service was beautiful.
Last night, I realized that God sent me Kelly because we were to lose Grandma Dorothy and Grammy. Kelly was special to me but now she's even more special. John and I thank God we have her more than ever.
John and I went to Goleta pier today after having breakfast at the Beachside restaurant with my mom and our cousin Anne. We spent some time outside with our little doll and walked the entire length of the pier. It was great to get outside. We both agreed we want to eat better and exercise more. Our time together was really nice.
